Have something to say?
Enrich listings with AI-written descriptions based on reviews
We can now scrape and display reviews. The next step - make something useful: we can ask AI to analyze reviews and create a business description. TBD: 1) Decide if it should be a standalone field(s) 2) Decide if reviews data should be combined with website data
Add "Upvotes" to listings
Many users are asking about adding more UGC/UG actions. 1) Add “Upvote” to the Listing Page header 2) Display the number of upvotes on the listing cards 3) Add sorting by upvotes number to listing grids, apply default sorting as “most upvoted first” 4) Ask anonymous users to sign up/login once they click the “upvote” button. Just open login/signup pages in a new tab for the beginning.
Create a separate "Search" page
With the addition of search bar to the home page, it became completely unobvious how does the search work. We need either rework the /browse page or create a separate /search page to handle… Search.
Add "move up"/"move down" buttons to the Page Builder blocks
Currently it possible to drag&drop items, but it doesn’t work well with large components - completely unintuitive thing that sometimes even doesn’t work.
Allow to filter similar items by clicking on the Custom Attribute
For example, a user visited a Listing page. He sees some “tag” and would like to see other items with this tag.
Add "Opening Hours" custom attribute type
Currently, it is somewhat solvable by using the “Text” custom attribute, but it doesn’t look good enough.
Allow to duplicate listings
Subj. Customers who manage listings via MakeADir sometimes need to create listings from another, exiting listings.
Add Airtable integration
Multiple users requested Airtable integration for their directories. For the first iteration, we can focus on one-way sync (Airtable → MakeADir). Support categories & listings sync with a column mapping interface similar to CSV import.
Add translations for on-page labels & texts
hey, I hope you’re doing well. I liked your app but I want to build a directory in turkish language. I’ve seen that If I change site language the texts that I can not change are staying in english. Thanks for your help.
Allow to display categories on the sidebar
Pretty much similar to filters, users might want to see categories on the sidebar to occupy less of the vertical space. It should work like Amazon categories: 1) Parent name/link 2) List of links of the categories on the same level 3) List of links of subcategories of the currently selected one.
Create “events” for listings
One of the popular features is to allow users who submit listings to create “Events” for them. It will allow to enrich directories and make them more useful to end-users.
Add “Share the Page” buttons
Directory admins may want to allow users to share listings / blog posts in social networks just with a couple of clicks.
Allow to AI generate images for posts
Blog posts with images usually get more views/engagement and are, generically speaking, more attractive to end-users.
Add autogenerated “Table of Contents” to blog posts
This might improve SEO a little bit by showing blog posts in different SERP features.
Make it most easy to set bookmark
this is a good example how easy it can be, taken from raindrop.io Tagging with AI - make it easy to get thing sorted #bildung #education Watch Video
"Pay-per-quote" monetization option
Same as the one we have for the listing owners, but this time for consumers. I.e. when one wants to get a contacts of some narrow specialist on the job board site. I.e. “I’m looking for a nanny - I want to get the contacts of the best one”.
Allow to add custom "products" to pay for listings
Directory admins can provide additional paid services (for example, “post the listing & share in our social network”).
Support custom payment links
In addition to Stripe, allow to choose only one of these. Users should be able to add “products”. Our task is to display them on the “pay” modal alongside the payment link. Directory admins will have to track payments themselves, due to the missing integration.
Add PayPal as a payment gateway
In addition to Stripe. To keep it simple, allow users to pick only one of these two.
